Feedback control of liquid metals proposed at Plasma Material Interaction Workshop in Princeton

A workshop on Plasma-Materials Interaction was held at Princeton.

Liquid metals are promising plasma-facing materials, but it is not trivial to make them adhere to solid ceilings and walls. Furthermore, they will be subject to instabilities.

On behalf of Taha, Francesco gave a talk and submitted a white paper on their proposal to feedback-control MHD instabilities in flowing or static liquid-metal walls by means of an array of electrodes. The principle is similar to feedback control of MHD instabilities in plasmas by means of an array of coils.
